Cornerstone

Cornerstone

During 2003, we set out to seek God's direction on the sort of church he wants us to be in this modern age. The Good News does not change but the way we present it, and the way we live out our faith, needs to adapt to changing times. For years we have been "St John's Church, Eden Park". We feel the Lord led us to see ourselves as "St John's - Church for Eden Park" : worshipping God; here for others; showing the love of God; leading people to Christ. "St John's - Church for Eden Park" is a mission statement, not an address. It emphasises our purpose. We are Christ's followers, looking up towards God and out to our community, with our community on our heart.

During 2005, we launched 'Cornerstone', a project to develop our church building and halls into a modern church-centre reflecting our love of God and God's love for us in our ministry and service to our community and beyond. Our vision is to maintain the focus of the church as a worship centre in the community whilst developing our buildings and growing our existing range of community support activities in a facility that will be open seven days a week for a wide range of activities. That's Cornerstone. We have prepared a brief and an architect has been appointed with a design team to prepare preliminary design options. Now,in faith,we are setting about raising the money.

These are exciting times for us. Cornerstone apart we feel that we are being blessed by God in so many ways. We have noticed this particularly in the way new people are coming in to church all the time and our numbers are growing.

We have altered the layout of our worship area and now have a much greater sense of inclusion, closeness and togetherness as we worship. Take a look at the pictures.

We look forward to meeting you or hearing from you. You can be assured that we pray regularly for those in and around our community who may be looking for a place to worship as part of God's church.
