The Good News does not change but we knew that the way we present it, and the way we live out our faith, needs to adapt to changing times.
For years we have been "St John's Church, Eden Park". That's our name and where you can find us. By 2003/4 we felt the Lord had led us to see ourselves as "St John's - Church for Eden Park"; worshipping God but here for others; showing the love of God. Do you see the subtle difference?
"St John's - Church for Eden Park" is more than our address. It's our mission statement. It emphasises our purpose. We are here for the whole community. We are Christ's followers, looking up towards God and out to our community, with our community on our heart.
In 2005 we launched 'Cornerstone', a project to develop our buildings into a modern centre providing facilities and services for the wider community. We will provide a meeting place, meeting needs and meeting people. Our vision is to live out our faith serving our community.
We will not lose sight of our Christian focus, and the worship space will be at the heart of our centre, but we will be here seven days a week, meeting a wide range of needs for people outside the church.
That's Cornerstone - a place of support, service and opportunity for the community.
